My tenth book – ‘It’s Time: A Chronomemoir‘, is published on July 17th 2025 by the excellent Guillemot Press. Is ‘chronomemoir‘ even a real word? I’m so glad you asked. It is now. It’s my own term for this highly playful and eclectic hybrid book in which I explore what it’s like to be a creature living inside time and to have time inside me, wandering from science, art, philosophy and televisions shows to poetry, Google searches, cake, calendar reform and Virginia Woolf, using different voices, styles, word-shapes – and even conversations with Time itself! To get a taster, listen to me reading the beginning (beginnings!) of the book here, and you can read the same excerpt from the book below…

The Book!
Guillemot Press is a small publisher in the south of England who are passionate about books as beautiful physical objects. Each book is assembled by hand, on amazing paper, so they feel glorious. (Guillemot published my first hybrid book, ‘and what if we were all allowed to disappear’, as a limited edition with a GOLD cover, in 2020). On their website, Guillemot Press says: “We also have a love of abstraction, absence, play and experiment – new ways of looking at where we are and who we are,” which pretty much sums up my philosophy on writing.
If you’d like to get hold of a copy of “It’s Time”, and support small independent publishers, the very best way is to order directly from Guillemot Press here:  https://www.guillemotpress.co.uk/nonfiction/hershman-its-time . Or you might ask your favourite local bookshop to get a copy.
Signed copies!
If you’d like me to sign a copy, you can buy one directly from me here – international shipping should be all set up, please email me if there are any issues. Let me know who to sign it to if not you!
The Launch!
I had a wonderful time on Zoom talking more about the book – why I wrote it, how I wrote it, my philosophy on writing (and on life, to be honest, there’s not much separation), as well as me reading sections from the book. This also happened to be my birthday, which seemed a very apt time-related day for a book launch, and I can’t think of a nice birthday treat than to see some of your lovely faces. You can watch the Zoom recording with the chat – which was very active – here:
Or watch on YouTube, without the chat, here:
